Normet investoi tulevaisuuteen ja kasvuun

The company plans to build a technology centre in Finland

In the forthcoming year, Normet will further strengthen its production capacity and technological know-how. The company will build a technology centre in Finland, which will enable full-scale prototype product manufacturing and substantial growth concerning R&D resources.

Normet invests heavily in R&D. This year it totals to four per cent of the company's turnover. According to Normet's CEO Jari Osmala, the aim is to maintain the investments at the same level during the next few years. At the same time, Normet is engaging in cooperation with its partners and is strongly developing manufacturing network and abilities to respond to quick growth.

In addition, Normet will increase its production capacity by investing in a new assembly facility and an automatic machining centre related to the manufacturing of heavy frame structures. As a result of the investments, production capacity will increase by two thirds. The total value of the investments exceed EUR 7 million.

The Life Time Care business operations will be improved by investing in the automation of storage levels and control systems.

The implementation of the investment scheme will kick off immediately. Approximately 2,100 m2 of the new hall facilities will be constructed. Normet already has approximately 23,000 square meters of facilities in Iisalmi, Finland. The new facilities will be deployed in stages, and the project will be completed after the deployment of the machining centre in March 2010. The objective is to start assembling equipment in the new facilities by August 2009.

In connection with the investments, a massive recruitment and training drive for new employees will take place. The target of this drive is to find approximately 100 new professionals for production and R&D. Normet currently employs approximately 420 employees globally.
