Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Normet announces its sponsorship of professional sailors Sinem Kurtbay and Akseli Keskinen, further strengthening its support for the Finnish Sailing Team. Earlier in the year Normet announced its support for kite-foil racer Noora Ruskola on her road to the 2024 Olympics.
Both Kurtbay and Keskinen are well established sailors competing in the Nacra 17 class. The duo debuted in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and have continued exceptional performance – Achieving silver in the European Championships and bronze in the World Championships this year.
”Can’t express how ecstatic we are to have Normet join our team for the next two years on our build up to Paris 2024 Olympics. We have a great season behind us and we are on a really good path looking forward, and we will surely build a very successful partnership together over these two coming years. Couldn’t do this project without such support, so we definitely feel strong appreciation towards Normet“, Kurtbay and Keskinen say.
For us at Normet, it is great to be able to continue to provide support and sponsor exuberant, goal-oriented athletes who also are courageous, caring and committed. To succeed in a world class sport, you need to aim for extraordinary performance. As Kurtbay and Keskinen do.
The Nacra 17 is a high-performance catamaran and became the first mixed sailing discipline on the Olympic sailing programme in 2016. About 17 feet long, hence its name, the Nacra 17 features hydrofoil daggerboards and winglets on the bottom of the rudders. When fully foiling, a Nacra 17s boat soaring above the water at 30kts of boat speed is a sight to behold.
