Riina Turpeinen, Summer Trainee, HR
Riina Turpeinen gained valuable hands-on experience while working as an HR Summer Trainee at Normet. Her summer was filled with diverse HR tasks, including supporting payroll processes, managing daily office routines, and coordinating an orientation day event for the summer trainees. One of the most interesting assignments was a project focused on collecting educational data from production employees. “It was great to be trusted with real responsibilities. I felt like my work had purpose and impact.”
The experience gave Riina a broad understanding of the HR field. She gained practical insights into everyday HR tasks, organizational skills, prioritization, and working with people. “The variety of tasks made the work really interesting.” Flexibility was key, as no two days were alike.
Just graduating with her master’s degree in economics and business administration, majoring in innovation management, Riina saw Normet’s HR position as great opportunity to apply her academic knowledge in a practical setting. HR team played a central role in her development. Riina felt that her team was highly professional people, who were still easy to approach. “They’re incredibly skilled, but also so easy to talk to. I always felt supported and encouraged. I’m genuinely grateful to have had the chance to work with this team and learn from them.”
What Riina appreciated most during her time at Normet was the people and the culture. “Everyone at Normet is so welcoming and supportive.” The summer trainee community was also big part of Riina’s summer. “The other trainees were truly friendly, and I’ve made some real friendships here.” Riina would warmly recommend Normet as a workplace for anyone looking to gain hands-on experience in a positive and encouraging environment.
